FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ - People from all around the country flocked to Fountain Hills to listen to evidence that UFOs exist.
The 20th annual International UFO Congress kicked off Wednesday at the Radisson Fort McDowell in Fountain Hills. It’s the first time Arizona has hosted the event.
“When you think about how far and vast the universe is, how can we possibly be the only living entities?” asked Glenn Arpino, who is visiting from New York.
Many of the people at the event claimed to have seen a UFO in the past.
“I saw a major craft, a major light in the sky that came very close to my house when I was growing up,” said Jennifer Stein, who flew out from Pennsylvania to attend the event.
Several former military officials are set to speak at the UFO Congress, which runs through Sunday. Some of the speakers include Canada’s former Minister of Defence Paul Hellyer and several former members of the U.S. Military.
While the main focus of the event is the list of speakers, a full room of vendors displayed books, movies and clothing. Jeff Willes, who runs a local UFO website, said he saw the infamous Phoenix Lights and believes there he’s witnessed other possible UFO sightings as well.
“There's something to it, it can't all be explained away,” he said.
However, many who attend this already have their belief set in stone, and won’t try to convince anyone else about what they believe.
“Most people may think we're crazy,” Arpino said. “I really don't care.”
